Juan Mas Choclán is a Spanish classical pianist. His concert engagements have taken him to various countries, including the Netherlands, Italy, England, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, and the United Arab Emirates. Juan has also performed extensively throughout Spain in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Valladolid, and Almería. Among his performances, notable venues include the Birmingham Town Hall, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, and the Auditorio Miguel Delibes in Valladolid.
Juan is a frequent prizewinner at international competitions such as the Birmingham, Maria Canals, Xàtiva, Sigüenza, Antonin, and Linares competitions.
Juan has been honored with several musical awards, including the “Spanish Young Musicians” scholarship presented by Her Majesty the Queen of Spain, the AIE scholarship for advanced specialisation in piano performance which is awarded annually to five Spanish musicians, the residency as an artist of the “Ingesund Piano Center” and the “ABRSM” scholarship granted by the Royal Northern College of Music.
His principal teachers include Ewa Pobłocka and Paweł Wakarecy at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music, Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist at the Karlstad University and Graham Scott at the Royal Northern College of Music. Additionally, he has benefited from masterclasses led by renowned piano figures such as Dang Thai Son, Stephen Hough, Garrick Ohlsson, Rafał Blechacz, Jacques Rouvier, Gabriela Montero, Eldar Nebolsin and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
Juan has collaborated with the RNCM “Wind” Orchestra conducted by Clark Rundell, and with the AM. Symphonic Orchestra of Bydgoszcz under the baton of Michał Dworzyński. As a chamber musician, Juan has recently performed in various ensemble settings, featuring in festivals such as the “Södertälje Chamber Music festival”.
